The last few weeks swept away much of the old. It was simply amazing – looking at how all the little tricks I did were no longer needed. The feeling of being free and unrestricted when software just works. The coming storm blows all the tumbleweeds away, removes all the cobwebs and frees your time for things that matter – speed and productivity.

Ladies and gentlemen, please let me introduce phpStorm:

PhpStorm is a new, lightweight and smart PHP IDE. It provides so many new features that it will take several blogs to write about them all. Smart code completion, refactoring, code level spell checking are only a few of the available features that this storm has to offer. I downloaded the trial version just under a month ago and was completely blown away when it worked out of the box. No fiddling under the hood with control files, no unexpected crashes. It just worked.

While I have only started to explore the full functionality of this storm, I fully intend to use this product to its maximum potential. I’ll write more about my experiences (with the fully registered version) in the upcoming weeks.
