As of version 3.6 of PD Place™, the capabilities to announce the creation of new in-services to specific groups has been greatly enhanced. This blog examines these new features and will clarify questions recently asked of our team.
As a Webmaster, you can edit and maintain Target Groups and the announcement capabilities through fields on the Target Group detail screen shown here:
PD Place will send announcements of new in-services if the field “In-service Announce?” is checked. Every time a supervisor/DEA adds an in-service and assigns this Target Group, an email will be sent providing recipients with the details of the upcoming in-service.
To whom the email is sent depends upon how you configure the additional fields. You have two options here:
- You can specify an email address in the “Target Group Email” field. The email address you would enter here would typically be an address associated with a distribution list that exists on the email server being used by PD Place. Most clients have distribution lists established on their email server and these typically identify unique groups of staff within their organization. PD Place sends the email to the server that will then use the selected distribution list to identify appropriate email recipients.
- Alternatively you can check the “Send Announcements to Employee Groups” and in the Employee Group field select the appropriate group. With this option, PD Place will search its user profiles and find everyone who is part of the employee groups you have selected. Each individual will then receive a copy of the email.
The actual content of the email is specified in the Email Template – “In-service: Class Announce.”
