We recently attended the Desire2Learn Fusion 2011 conference in the ‘Mile High City” of Denver, Colorado. D2L are a very successful company that delivers eLearning solutions to academic and other leading organizations worldwide. Fusion is the D2L Users’ Conference which is held every July. This year D2L had a record attendance with over 850 attendees representing 212 institutions, 8 countries, 30 states and 8 provinces. I’d say that’s quite impressive.
Having recently joined the D2L Partner Network this was the first time we attended a Fusion conference. We weren’t quite sure what to expect at the conference or how much interest attendees would have in our professional development management software ‘PD Place’. As it turns out there was lots of interest and there is no doubt that any expectations we had were blown out of the water.
While we did not meet with all 850 attendees we did meet a large number of people who were genuinely interested in what we had to offer. We had some very engaging discussions with many attendees and it’s clear that PD Place is a perfect complement to the D2L learning platform. While D2L is all about transforming teaching and learning with innovative eLearning solutions PD Place fits in well by helping D2L customers to manage and track professional development opportunities for staff and faculty.
Our intention is to provide an integrated solution to work with D2L so the organizational details associated with delivering staff development online will flow into PD Place transparently. Many of the attendees told us that they have a challenging time managing their staff development and that PD Place would be perfectly suited to that task. In the coming weeks, we are looking forward to talking with all the D2L clients we met at Fusion and I would like to say “Thank You” to all the people who stopped by our booth.
I would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to D2L for hosting Fusion and we certainly appreciate all the hard work their staff put in to organize such an amazing conference. The folks at D2L certainly know how to put on a great show and we’re already looking forward to attending Fusion 2012.
