Yesterday in Toronto CoreSolutions co-hosted a FileMaker Go briefing with FileMaker, Inc. I would like to say thank you to Keith Robinson, Mia Roop, and in particular Matt O’Dell who had a splendid presentation and gave us a thorough demonstration of many of the features of FileMaker Go. Thank you also to our own Steve Hearn, who developed a FileMaker Go ‘Sales Module’ that we demonstrated at the event.
During the session attendees saw how other organizations are currently using FileMaker Go to boost productivity and they also learned about its’ many benefits. In talking with some of the attendees following the event they shared with me some of the opportunities and possibilities they could see using FileMaker Go in their own organizations.
There is no doubt that the combination of using an iPad or iPhone with FileMaker Go is going to be a game changer for many people. It will change the way we do our work and with it many of the business processes we currently follow. In particular, any organization with employees who rely on mobile devices to do their work away from the office will experience huge productivity gains by using FileMaker Go.
During the briefing we showed a Sales Module running on an iPad that integrates with a Sales Management System running on FileMaker Server. Using this type of solution sales teams are able to access all the pertinent data they need to function while away from the office. Not only can they view information but they can also change it and add new information to the system. We heard of one company whose employees have to visit customers on a specific route and gather information from them including photos of their establishments. With the built-in camera and FileMaker Go on an iPhone their route information can now be downloaded from the main system and the captured data can be sent back almost immediately. There are tons of other uses for FileMaker Go, entering or checking data in a warehouse, updating the status of projects while on the road, taking notes while at conferences and recording inventory are just some examples.
