When I talk about FileMaker Pro I tend to refer to it as the 10-million piece puzzle with the box that doesn’t have a picture on it. Why? Because the puzzle will be what you make of it. Now, I know this may sound daunting, but I promise it’s not.
I may be an end user of FileMaker Pro, using a database our team at CoreSolutions Software developed, but I’m constantly amazed at how easy it is to use. Granted, a database is only as good as the developer who created it, but the benefit we have here is our handy team of developers to tweak and modify our system when needed.
In the two years since I began working for CoreSolutions, I’ve learned how to do Quick Finds, Save Finds (that I use on a regular basis), Create Group Mailing/Calling Lists, and so much more. FileMaker continues to surprise me as I was recently taught that someone can create their own database from scratch by taking a simple Excel document and dropping it into FileMaker. How easy is that?!
Needless to say, you don’t have to be a developer to understand how to use FileMaker Pro, or to make simple changes that will allow you to be more productive in your daily work. You’re able to find hints and tips on how to use FileMaker Pro by either walking through a tutorial that can be found on the FileMaker website or by taking part in one of our FTS Introductory / User Level sessions, in class or via the web.
It’s to your benefit, and that of the company you work for, to take some time and learn how you can be more efficient using FileMaker Pro software.
I bet you’ll continue to be amazed by its efficiency and ease of use, just like I am.
