PD Place: The Power of Registration Restrictions

Estimated Time To Read This: 2 – 3 minutes

In version 3.7, functionality was added at the in-service level, to allow you to specify unique registration restrictions rules. If you have not tried this functionality, I strongly suggest that you do since registration restrictions add a whole new dimension to PD Place™.

These registration restrictions rules apply only to the individual in-service where they are entered. They can be applied to all staff from a specific location and/or only those associated with a specific employee group.
There can be any number of rules and multiple rules may be required to achieve your requirements. The system examines each rule in sequential order and will stop once it finds a rule that applies to the individual trying to register for the in-service. Since a person trying to register could potentially satisfy any number of rules.

The following screen shows a typical set of registration restrictions:

In the above example, staff from the “CoreSolutions Software Inc.” location and any employee group, are restricted to a maximum of two (2) registrants. Note also that they must register by the date specified and there is no waiting list available to them. All other locations are restricted by the second rule to a maximum of three (3) registrants regardless of the employee group. Note also that they must register by the date specified and that the waiting list is available to them.

Registration restrictions can be used to control any number of situations including, but not limited to the following:

a) For a specific location or at each location you wish to restrict the number of registrants.

b) For a specific employee group or for each employee group you wish to restrict the number of registrants.

c) For a specific location or employee group you want to block registrations totally.

d) Certain employee groups are to be prevented from registering until a specified date.

e) Cut off registrations for a location and/or employee group earlier in the registration process.

f) Restrict the waiting list to specific employee groups.

The number of possibilities is endless and in subsequent blogs we will look into more detail of how to achieve some of the above.
