CoreSolutions has developed a series of FileMaker training designed to give Users and Developers an in-depth look into the workings of FileMaker 11. Core Curriculum training is provided in online and in-class formats.

[DDET FileMaker Exposed! Online Series (For intermediate to advanced users)]

The FileMaker Exposed! series is your Next Generation FileMaker Classroom. This online series guides you through the fine points of FileMaker 10 and 11’s newest features. We get you up to date and ready to use FileMaker 11 in a professional online environment. This online series uses a web-conferencing application to bring training to any location or setting. The course format consists of theory with examples and exercises to work through. Questions can be asked or typed during the presentation and will be addressed at the end of the module followed by a quiz to test your knowledge.

Target Audience

The FileMaker Exposed! series of online courses are directed towards students with some development experience in FileMaker version 7, 8, and 9.

FileMaker Exposed! – Script Triggers

Script Triggers, still in their infancy, are an indispensable feature whether it’s just for adding extra functionality to an existing solution or to create complex filtering techniques.

[DDET FileMaker Core Curriculum Training, User Level (Online)]

This user-level series of courses is directed toward anyone who uses or would like to know how to use FileMaker Pro.  These classes are taught using the newest version of FileMaker Pro (currently v11), but many of the same principles are applicable to earlier versions of the software.

This online series uses a web-conferencing application, and consists of theory with examples and exercises. Questions can be asked or typed during the presentation to ensure that a proper understanding is reached, and online quizzes are included, to test your knowledge.

Working With Data

After having taken this course, you will successfully be able to open files of various types, and from various locations.  You will also be able to create, edit, and delete records, and will have a good understanding of which types of actions can be undone (as well as how to undo them).  Common database actions, namely finding, and sorting will also be taught in this class.

Importing and Exporting

This course will teach FileMaker Pro users some easy-to-master techniques to get data into, and out of, FileMaker Pro.  This includes importing and exporting using a variety of formats, as well as methods to create a database starting from an Excel spreadsheet, and even merging FileMaker data into Word.

Developer Level 1 introduces attendees to Relational Databases, addresses relational terms and the Relationship Graph, and provides an introduction to working with Portals. Automation (i.e. creating buttons and actions) is also covered in this in-depth one-day course. Each student receives a comprehensive training manual and a CD with exercise files.

FileMaker Core Curriculum Training, Developer Level 2

Developer Level 2 covers the fundamentals of database design, such as data modeling and creating relationships, and introduces the various charts available through FileMaker Pro Versions 10 and 11. The course also expands on the Relational Database topics covered in the Developer Level 1 course and teaches attendees useful tricks to use when working with portals. Each student receives a comprehensive training manual and a CD with exercise files.

Developer Level 3 instructs trainees on how to create calculations of basic to moderate complexity. This course also provides a thorough overview of FileMaker’s security system and how to build scripts using ScriptMaker.
