Show More Fields

Estimated Time To Read This: < 1 minute

It makes perfect sense to use “Auto-resize Layout Objects” in order to show more content from within the fields already showing on your layouts.  Another example of how you can use this feature would be to show more fields on the layout when the screen size is large enough to allow for it.  In this quick (18 seconds) video, I demonstrate how you can combine anchoring with the z-order of your layout objects in order to conceal the least important fields unless the screen real-estate warrants the display of them.

This technique is especially handy in FileMaker Go for hiding fields in portrait mode and revealing them in landscape mode.

Nice! This is also a cool technique to use with FileMaker Go on the iPad, for the difference between portrait and landscape view.

Absolutely!
This trick also comes in quite handy when you have a system that resizes to the max on startup, and you have a number of users with varying monitor sizes.
