The Necessity for Preparation

Estimated Time To Read This: 2 – 3 minutes

In the last year I faced a challenge like none I have ever faced before.

As I celebrated my 40th birthday and mourned the loss of my good friend to breast cancer, I decided to sign-up for a 200KM (124 mile) fundraising bike ride. To take part in this ride, I knew I’d have to train and prepare myself mentally and physically to be successful in my adventure.

After months (and months!) and hours (and hours!) of sweat, perseverance and effort, I found myself facing the weekend of the ride that would have me on a bike for two straight days. My mind was so abuzz with what I’d already done and what I was about to achieve, I could barely sleep the night before.

When I crossed the finish line on that second day, still able to walk and feeling great considering the nine and a half hours spent in the bike saddle, I knew that my training was worth every last drop of determination.

To succeed you must train, whether physically or mentally, but you also need to have the drive and will to get yourself over the finish line. It’s this philosophy that helped us build our FileMaker training line-up as authorized trainers. We’ve designed a roster of courses, some straight from FileMaker themselves, to guide you through the ins and outs of the program, taking you to that next level of user or developer expertise.

Remember, once you do cross that finish line, you’ll know that all the effort you put into learning, training, changing and challenging your vision was worthwhile and will help you get where you want to go or be who you want to be in your professional and personal life.
